Things to Think About

“All that’s needed for evil to triumph, is for good men and women to do nothing.”  Edmund Burke

In this age of populism and divisiveness, could there be a more relevant time for this wonderful quote from the distinguished 18th-century Irish Statesman, Edmund Burke?

Recently I read the outstanding book, On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century, by Timothy Snyder and it was a sobering wakeup call as to just how easy it is to sleepwalk—thinking others will act, or institutions will protect us—into a very dark place as we witnessed in the 1930s.

The book is a quick, but thoughtful, well written and compelling read. I recommend it for anyone who values civil society.

Good luck on your journey!
