I remember hearing this quote as a young man. I had just left an association meeting of my peers and felt that the others were so much smarter and more successful than I was. I felt like an imposter of sorts—not good enough and soon to be found out by this collection of superior beings. Michael Pounds, my mentor at the time, seeing that I was feeling low, told me Eleanor Roosevelt’s words. I don’t know for sure if it was his intervention alone that gave me a different perspective, but five years later, I was elected President of the association. Is it time for you to withdraw your consent?
