Things to Think About 019
"If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself." Albert Einstein
Have you ever been in a meeting listening to someone explaining something, and it seemed like the more they said, the more confused people got? Sometimes it’s because of a flurry of jargon and acronyms, sometimes it’s because of vocabulary that is supposed to impress us, and sometimes it’s because some people have a talent for complicating things. When I was a kid, someone created the KISS principle for communicating, which is Keep It Simple Stupid, and it was never more needed than today. By keeping things simple, you not only greatly expand your audience, but you make it easy for them to understand, buy-in, and share the idea with others. Why not even try it out on a six-year-old?
