Things to Think About

“The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.”  Anonymous

This quote obviously applies to an English language dictionary, but its relevance is nothing short of universal.  I first heard this as a young sales trainee.  Our instructor was trying to get an important point across to us—if you want to be successful, you have to want it badly enough to work for it.  This may sound like something that is so obvious that it doesn’t need to be mentioned, but that would be a very superficial interpretation of this wonderful quote.  This is a quote to keep in the back of your mind to reflect on when things aren’t going quite as you had planned.  The barriers are a little higher than first thought, or an unexpected setback has created that demoralizing feeling that causes all of us to question if we really want to do this, or wish that we could find a shortcut, or easier way to accomplish what we are attempting.  There is no shortcut to sustainable success.  All of us must put in the time and effort to do what needs to be done.  It’s that simple.  So, whenever I find myself feeling discouraged because of some complications or setbacks, I remember this little gem, and it always gets me back on track. Give it a try.  It’s a wonderful reminder of reality and what is important.

Good luck on your journey!
