Things to Think About
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Winston Churchill
It’s a pretty safe bet that the 20th century produced no more than a handful of people who were as qualified to discuss the qualities of optimism as Sir Winston Churchill. The thing that makes this quote so powerful is the credibility of the man who said it. This was a man who frequently fought with what he called his “black dog”—depression—and with the humiliation of many setbacks and failure…on a grand scale. He knew full well that paralyzing feeling of being overwhelmed…on a grand scale. He also believed that, if one took the time to examine and understand a particular difficulty while maintaining the desire to seek a solution, opportunities would surface. This is what fuels resilience and resilience is the first thing I think of when I think of this giant of history. This quote is a wonderful reminder of what is possible with the proper perspective.
Good luck on your journey!
