Things to Think About 029
“We don’t regret the risks we took and failed. We regret the risks we failed to take.”
Marshall Goldsmith
Much has been written about the things one regrets as they look back on their lives in old age, but this is the most concise and coherent statement about that topic I have come across. Stop for a moment and think about how you would tell the story of your life in your final hours. What would you want it to be? What would the theme of your story be? What would be the title of your life story? Would it be something that inspires others to act in some way to be the best them they can be?
If you want your story to be about someone who made their life a wonderful journey — a journey that combined the courage to challenge yourself, to step out your comfort zone from time to time, to bounce back from failures and setbacks in the quest for personal growth, the best time to begin writing that story is now. It could involve accepting a tough assignment, a new position, new responsibilities, making the move to a new employer, or starting your own business. There are as many options as there are people. The key is to choose to become the author of a story worth telling to future generations.
Till next time…
