Kathy Gallardo, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.B.P.N.
Dr. Gallardo is a Regional Medical Officer / Psychiatrist (Double Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry) with the U.S. Department of State (DOS), currently posted to the US Embassy Amman Regional Medical Center. She received her M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of California, Irvine, her Ph.D. is in Pharmacology & Toxicology, with primary emphasis in Developmental Neuropharmacology and Neurotoxicology. Post-graduate medical training was performed at Yale University followed by a combined Child Psychiatry Clinical and Research Fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, MD and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Areas of interest/expertise: Neuropsychiatry, complex neuropharmacology, family systems, forensic/correctional/organizational psychiatry, organizational behavior, stress/trauma in children and adults, international crisis readiness/disaster psychiatry. Prior to joining DOS she worked as a NATO contractor with US Army Psychiatry BMEDDAC - European Regional Medical Command, Bavaria. She has three adult children and calls Southern California home and has close ties to Prague. Her posting prior to Amman was to Pretoria, South Africa. She will return to Washington D.C in June, 2015 to serve as Deputy Director of Mental Health Services of the US State Department.
